Car Jump Start Service in San Jose, CA
A dead battery jumped where the car sits, anywhere in San Jose and the surrounding cities, in 45 minutes or less. You get the quote on the call.
A car jump start is the smallest call we take, and most days it is the right one. Headlights left on. An interior light burning behind a door that never quite shut. A car that sat through a week of cold mornings and was asked to start on the eighth. The battery still holds a charge in every one of those cases. It simply has nothing left to turn the engine over, and a proper pack on the terminals puts that right where the car stands.
Guerra Towing runs jump starts 24 hours a day across San Jose and the surrounding cities. The job is the jump and nothing else: the pack goes on the terminals, the engine turns over, and you drive away. If a dead battery will not take the charge you are told so plainly at the roadside, because that is a different job on a different service, and you should not be paying for a jump that was never going to hold.

Why People Call Us for a Dead Battery
Guerra Towing is your family-owned towing and roadside company in the San Jose, CA area, and a jump start is the call we take most often. Dispatch runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, holidays included, and the job is quoted on the phone before anyone is sent.
24 Hour Jump Start Service in San Jose
A dead battery picks its moment. They die on the first cold morning of the year, in a work parking lot at six in the evening, and outside a supermarket on a Sunday. Dispatch is answered at every one of those hours, weekends and holidays included, and across San Jose and the surrounding cities we get to you in 45 minutes or less. The call is quoted before anyone is sent, so the hour you ring at does not change how the job is booked.

When to Call for a Jump Start
Five ways a car ends up with a dead battery, and all five are a jump start.
Lights or a door left on overnight
The commonest one by a distance, and the one a jump start fixes outright. The battery is flat, not finished. Once it is running, a decent drive puts charge back into it.
In a parking lot or a parking structure
Low ceilings, tight bays and nobody willing to lend you their cables. Tell dispatch the level and the height limit when you call, the same as you would for a tow, so the right vehicle is sent the first time.
It has been standing for a week or more
Batteries lose charge sitting still, faster in the cold. A car that has not moved since before a holiday often needs nothing more than a jump and a run.
Push-button start and nothing wakes up
No dash, no chime, the button does nothing. Nine times out of ten that is the 12 volt battery rather than the key fob, and it is jumped the same way any other car is.
At home, at work, or on the shoulder
The jump happens where the car sits. There is nothing to arrange, nothing to move, and no need to find someone with jumper cables and a free half hour.
When a Jump Start Will Not Hold
Three times a dead battery is not really the problem, and what happens instead. You are told which one it is at the roadside, not after the invoice.
The battery is past saving
It takes the jump, runs while the cables are on, and dies the moment they come off. A dead battery that will not hold a charge needs replacing, not jumping. That is the mobile battery replacement service, booked and quoted on its own, so you are not paying for a jump on top of it.
The alternator is not charging
The car starts and runs, then dies again a few miles down the road with the battery light on. That is the charging system, not the battery, and no number of jumps will fix it. It needs a shop, and the car gets there on a truck.
It is the starter, not the battery
Lights bright, radio on, and a single click or nothing at all when you turn the key. If the battery is clearly healthy the jump is not the answer, and the honest call is a tow to whoever is doing the work.
What Affects Your Jump Start Price
Every jump start is quoted free, before anyone is sent. These are the things that move the number.
Distance of the tow
Where we pick up and where it is going. A cross-town tow and a two-block tow are not the same job.
Vehicle type
We tow light to medium vehicles. A motorcycle, a sedan and a lifted truck each need different equipment.
How hard the car is to reach
A car on a driveway is a short job. One on the fourth level of a parking structure, or boxed in on a narrow street, takes longer to get to.
Time and access
Overnight calls, freeway shoulders, underground garages and tight streets all change what the job takes.
Car Jump Start FAQs
The questions San Jose drivers ask dispatch most often.
How long does a jump start take?
The jump itself is a few minutes once the driver is with you. Getting to you is the part that takes the time, and across San Jose and the surrounding cities that is 45 minutes or less. Once the engine is running the job is done and you are on your way.
My car started, then died again. What does that mean?
If it died as soon as the leads came off, the dead battery is not holding a charge and needs replacing. If it ran for a while and then stopped with the battery light on, that points at the charging system rather than the battery. Either way, ring back and say what happened, because it changes what gets sent.
Can you jump start a hybrid or an electric car?
Yes. Hybrids and EVs still run their electronics off an ordinary 12 volt battery, and when that one goes flat the car will not wake up even with a full drive battery. It is jumped at the 12 volt terminals like any other car.
What if the battery will not hold a charge?
Then a jump is not the fix, and you are told that at the roadside rather than after the invoice. Guerra runs a separate mobile battery replacement service with its own quote. This page is jump starts only, so you are never charged for a jump that was only ever going to last to the end of the street.
Can you jump start a car with push-button start and no key?
Yes. A dead 12 volt battery is why the button does nothing, and once it has charge the car starts normally. If the car still will not wake up afterwards, the problem is not the battery and the driver will say so.
Is there a weekend or late night jump start service?
Yes. Weekends, holidays and the middle of the night are worked the same as a Tuesday afternoon, and the call is quoted the same way at any of those hours.
